If your tour day has is on Monday, since the Forbidden City is closed, we’ll replace it with the important heritage sites of Imperial Academy and Confucius Temple.

Itinerary Details

​Your tour guide will meet you at your city centered hotel, typically at 9:00AM. Then you will start this 8-hour city cultural and historical highlights tour of Beijing.

  • ​First, you will visit Tiananmen Square, This square is the geographic, political, and tourist center of the city, which makes a required site with iconic Gate of Heavenly Peace, portraits of Chairman Mao and more.
  • From here you will visit The Forbidden City (also known as the Imperial Palace). This massive complex sits on the northern edge of Tiananmen Square is the largest square in the world and has been a place of wonder and mystery for over 500 years. On Mondays, since Forbidden City is closed, you’ll see the China’s national university during the Yuan, Ming and Qing dynasties, and the last Guozijian (Imperial University) of China. ​
  • After the Forbidden city, you’ll visit the historic Summer Place and its vast array of lakes, gardens and palaces.  It was an imperial garden in Qing Dynasty. Mainly dominated by Longevity Hill and Kunming Lake, it covers an expanse of 2.9 square kilometres (1.1 sq mi), three-quarters of which is water. The front hill is rich with splendid halls and pavilions, while the back hill is quiet with natural beauty.
  • Of course you’ll have time to take a break for lunch and enjoy some local noodle lunch.
  • You’ll then visit the Temple of Heaven. This peaceful asylum is in the Confucian spirit and the area offers ancient cypress trees alongside remarkable structures such as the Zhaoheng Gate, the Animal Killing Pavilion and the Hall of Prayer for Good Harvests.

​You will be sent back to your hotel or somewhere in the city center you prefer when the tour is finished.
